Glenwood Springs High School’s boys hockey team shook off five hours of “bus legs” Saturday to defeat Woodland Park at World Arena in Colorado Springs, 11-2.

“We had some bus legs in the first period and didn’t play well,” coach Tim Cota said after the win moved the Demons to 3-1 to start the post-holiday portion of the schedule.

“We didn’t panic and put together a dominating second period to put the game out of reach in the third period,” he said.

Glenwood Colter Strautman had four goals on the night. Other Demon goals came from Robbie Weir, Ryan Kotz, Traven Hammond, Dylan Webster, Kelton McPherson, Owen Mangeot and Cole Houston.

“We need to find a way to play our best game at any time,” added coach Richie Luetke. “Qualifying for the playoffs is too tight to have a misstep.”

The Demons host their first home game of the season at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday versus Standley Lake at the Glenwood Springs Community Center ice rink.
