Two people died in a head-on collision north of Rifle on Monday afternoon.
According to Trooper Josh Lewis, Colorado State Patrol received a call of a wreck on Highway 13 eight miles north of 1-70 outside of Rifle Monday at 4:17 p.m.
Responding agencies included CSP and Garfield County Sheriff’s Office.
Once on the scene, CSP reported the collision involved a late model Pickup and SUV. The 58-year-old male driver of the pickup was flown to St. Mary’s in Junction via CareFLIGHT of the Rockies.
CSP reported two fatalities at the scene; no other information or identification of the deceased was available Monday evening.
Lewis said the Highway was closed for a little over three hours Monday evening.
