A four-goal scoring barrage over a 15-minute span in the second half of the state 3A soccer final handed the Kent Denver Sun Devils their second straight championship over the Roaring Fork Rams of Carbondale Saturday.
The Rams held the powerhouse Kent Denver team scoreless through 50 minutes of play at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City.
A strong contingent of Roaring Fork students and Carbondale fans made the trek over for the game, essentially matching the Kent Denver fan showing for the day.
Sun Devils senior forward Pace Billings broke it open with just over 30 minutes showing on the second-half clock, and added two more goals in the next 15 minutes of play for the hat trick.
Sun Devils senior Max Hewitt added another goal soon after that, and senior Layton Purchase added a fifth goal with 7 minutes to play for the final 5-0 tally.
