Whether you are looking for a place to celebrate a milestone or bring your extended family to dinner, discover a venue that feels like home. Ludwig’s at the Sonnenalp offers a customizable space and a feeling of Gemutlichkeit.
Gemutlichkeit is a German word used to convey the idea or state of feeling of warmth, friendliness and good cheer. Ludwig’s Restaurant includes three unique spaces all in one location that will allow you and your guests to gather in a space that is just right for any occasion.
When you enter, the first room is the Sun Room, named for the hand painted suns on the ceiling. The second room is the Terrace, which has windows on all sides, even the rooftop, which is retractable for more of an open-air feeling during the warmer months. “The Terrace is wonderful for cocktail receptions as well as dinners for larger groups needing more room,” said Amy Lilyquist, event sales manager at the Sonnenalp.
The third room is called the Stuberl, which means little living room. “It’s a cozy space overlooking Gore Creek with some history as well,” Lilyquist said. “The wooden beams are from the original Sonnenalp in the Bavarian Alps from the early 20th century and there are German coins in between the copper columns along the walls.”
The Stuberl can host up to 40 people but can also handle smaller groups. Are you on a ski trip with several families and finding it hard to get reservations? Or do you want a private spot to call your own? Once again, the Staff at the Sonnenalp will make you feel like you are in your own home.
“It can be difficult to find large party accommodations during the high season in Vail.We are here to help,” Lilyquist said. “We offer buffet, family style and plated dinner options that are likeable by everyone. We are happy to adjust for dietary restrictions as well.”
Let the Sonnenalp, which is celebrating 40 years in Vail, offer its European hospitality to you and your party, big or small. For more information or to get a tour, contact Amy Lilyquist at 970-479-5417 or visit their website at http://www.sonnenalp.com.
