Shane Larson appears to have held his seat on the Roaring Fork School District Board of Education in a three-way race for the north and west Glenwood Springs District D seat.
With unofficial results tallied in the Garfield County portion of the school district, as of 7:25 p.m., Larson had 1,301 votes to 1,203 and 757, respectively, for challengers Jasmin Ramirez and Amy Connerton.
Districtwide, including the Basalt-area portions of Eagle and Pitkin counties that are included in the school district, Larson had 1,716 votes in the latest tally, to 1,579 for Ramirez and 1,091 for Connerton.
There was minimal contest for the two other open seats on the local school board governing public schools in Glenwood Springs, Carbondale and Basalt.
Natalie Torres will take the District B seat formerly held by Matt Hamilton, who moved away and stepped down from the seat in June. Write-in candidate Matt Cova recorded 59 votes in the Garfield County voting, based on the unofficial results, to Torres’ 2,611.
Maureen Stepp will take the District C seat on the school board, as current board member Mary Elizabeth Geiger is stepping down. Another write-in candidate for that seat, Molly Peterson, garnered 86 votes to Stepp’s 2,579.
