Letter: Community support reminds me why I live here

Just a huge note of thanks to my friends, neighbors and strangers here in the valley for all of the help and courtesy shown since my ski accident on Dec 6.

Being sidelined on crutches for six weeks during the holiday season and dealing with snow and ice is never easy for anyone, but I have been overwhelmed with how nice people have been and how much help they have offered.

Everything from my Homestead tennis buddies dropping off soup, taking me out and just coming by to talk as well as people opening doors and offering to carry things for me at the post office and grocery store, all I can say is wow!

Incidents such as this remind me why I stay and live here (since 1981) — we truly pull together as a community to help others when needed. So, many thanks to all.
