The NBA announced Friday that Nuggets star Nikola Jokic will be suspended one game for leaving the bench area during an altercation in Wednesday night’s loss to the Jazz. Nuggets forward Mason Plumlee was fined $25,00 and Jazz forward Derrick Favors was fined $15,000 for their role in the incident. Video review showed Favors instigated the altercation.
Jokic will miss Friday’s game against the Suns and should be back Saturday against the 76ers.
The Nuggets were caught by surprise with the NBA’s ruling. They went through their shootaround Friday morning with Jokic in the lineup in preparation for Friday night’s game.
The NBA ruled that “Jokic’s close proximity to the altercation and aggressive manner created the potential for further escalation of the situation.”
