Obituary: Audrey Louise (Metzgar) Gulick, May 10, 1957 – Dec 22, 2018

Audrey Louise (Metzgar) Gulick, of Eagle, CO passed away December 22nd in her home after a long battle with metastatic melanoma. She was 61.

She was born on May 10th, 1957 in East Stroudsburg, PA to Marie Metzgar and the late Robert Metzgar. She graduated from Stroudsburg High School in 1975 before attending Lehigh Valley University. Following her adventurous spirit, she moved to Colorado in 1984 where she worked as a waitress and mountain host at Beaver Creek. She served as a dispatcher in Vail from 1988-2010. She briefly worked for Eagle County Schools and finally at the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office.

Audrey loved riding her horse, floating on the Colorado River, and camping with her family. She was also known as an entertainer, and hosted numerous gatherings at her home. Audrey moved to the Eagle Valley for skiing but stayed to enjoy the beauty of every breathtaking season.

Audrey was an amazing and dedicated mother, devoted wife, fun and selfless sister, sweet and loving daughter, a genuine friend, and welcoming and kind to all. She was an admirable woman who displayed strength with grace and poise. She will be remembered fondly as a woman who was extremely devoted to her family, and who had an incredible sense of humor.

Audrey is survived by her husband of 28 years, John G Gulick, two daughters, Raina and Ali Gulick, and the families of her sister Mary (Ron) Meyer, and brothers, Jerry (Debbie) and John (Denise) Metzgar. She is preceded in death by her father Robert, brother Richard, and niece Jodi Metzgar.

Memorial services will be held near Eagle, CO in April, and in her home town of Stroudsburg, PA in June of 2019. In lieu of flowers, donations of remembrance may be made to either Mountain Valley Horse Rescue (mountainvalleyhorserescue.com) or directly to the family to cover medical expenses which can be mailed to John Gulick PO Box 3343 Eagle, CO 81631.
