One high school student was killed late Friday night in a one-vehicle rollover crash in Missouri Heights and the 18-year-old driver is under investigation for suspected drunken driving, Colorado State Patrol and local emergency officials said Saturday.
CSP Cpl. Ivan Alvarado said there were five occupants in the vehicle when the accident occurred about 11:45 p.m. Friday on Kings Row Street, north of El Jebel in the Garfield County portion of Missouri Heights.
He did not know the extent of the injuries to the other passengers, or their ages.
Carbondale Fire and Roaring Fork Fire Rescue were dispatched to the scene where two of the five occupants were reportedly ejected from the car. One was confirmed dead at the scene, while the four other occupants of the vehicle were transported to local hospitals with various injuries.
Alvarado said the 18-year-old driver “walked away and is being investigated.”
