A person died Sunday morning at Snowmass Mountain Resort, according to a deputy Pitkin County coroner. The death happened in a terrain park at the resort, a person in the area at the time of the incident said.
The death occurred before noon, Deputy Michael Buglione said. No other details about the victim were immediately available Sunday, he said.
A person on the mountain when the death occurred said it happened at one of the jumps along the Village Express lift, which was shut down for a brief period. On-mountain personnel appeared to be performing CPR on the victim, the person said.
The Makaha Park remained closed Sunday afternoon as ski patrollers continued their investigation at a jump under the Village Express lift.
According to the resort’s website, the Makaha Park “offers a logical next step up the progression ladder with its mix of intermediate and advanced features, ranging in size from medium to large. There are about 25 features in total, a progressive line of midsized jumps and about 15 jib features including all shapes of boxes and rails. Great area for learning new tricks and working on progression.”
