Some people leave their mark on the world by the way they live and the difference they make in the lives they touch. This was Ron. Always a smile on his face and a laugh no one could forget. Even when Ron’s health was failing he had a smile and a kind word for everyone he came in contact with. Ron’s greatest joy in life was helping people and trying to make their lives better.
Ron was a true Glenwood Springs native. Born on October 6, 1956, to Joseph and Margaret Morris in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Ron spent his childhood in Glenwood Springs, Graduating from Glenwood Springs High School Class of 1975.
After graduation Ron went to work at Mid Continent Coal and Coke and worked for Mid Continent 13 years. Ron loved working in the coal mine. Ron left the coal mine to work on the Reverse Curve Tunnel in Glenwood Canyon. He said going from underground coal mining to hard rock mining was quite an adjustment. In 1997 Ron formed his own landscape maintenance company, Four Seasons Landscape Maintenance, Inc. This was Ron’s true calling. It did not take long for Ron to build a clientele. Ron truly loved his work and his clients. As his young employee Parker Trinca said, “When grandpa Ron was done mowing a lawn he left an impact and smile on his client’s face, and we didn’t leave a job until it was done to his satisfaction.” Ron would tell his two teenage workers, Parker and Tyler Boyd, if they didn’t do it right they would have to listen to his music! Ron’s parents raised all their kids with a very strong work ethic, and Ron tried to pass that along to all the kids that worked for him.
In 1981 Ron married Melody Miller in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ron and Melody were truly soul mates and best friends until the end. Ron and Melody were always taking in stray dogs and cats, and all the neighborhood kids knew they were always welcome in their home. They became honorary uncle and aunt to so many kids. Ron truly adored all kids, which included his nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces and he and Melody’s “adopted” daughter Nicole and grandson Theo. Theo loved to tell him, “Grandpa put your glasses on, let’s read a book!”
Ron is survived by his wife of 37 years, Melody; his mother, Margret (Marge) Morris, Glenwood Springs; brother, Steve (Danae) Morris, New Castle; sisters, Marsha (Rick) Tadus, Glenwood Springs, and Mandy Morris, Glenwood Springs; sister-in-law, Kathy Miller, Denver; nephews, Joseph “Nick” Bianco, Kevin (Samantha) Miller, Kevin Tadus, and Bo Morris; nieces, Monica (Rusty) Rauman, Sabra (Jon) Wiethoff, Renee (John) Langstaff and Markee Tadus Swank; and adopted daughter Nicole (Dave) Bowan and their son Theo; and his faithful dogs, Red and Prim Louise and cats, Sylvester and Stuart.
Ron is preceded in death by his father Joseph Morris, father-in-law Gene Miller and mother-in-law Eve Miller Jones.
