Ryan Moyer (February 24, 1981 — December 2, 2019)

Ryan Peter Moyer, loving Husband and caring Father, passed in his sleep on December 2nd at his homestead in Silt, Colorado, at the age of 38, born February 24th in Elmira, NY. Ryan found his path when he escaped the East Coast for a more adventurous life in the Rocky Mountains. He and Colorado were meant for each other. A hardworking local since 2006, Ryan worked diligently, making the best of his time on this Earth. He embraced the Colorado mountain lifestyle — tuning skis, raft guiding and boat house managing for a local outfit, and eventually owning his own rafting company, Up The Creek. An avid athlete and outdoorsman, Ryan always kept the guiding experience quaint and personal. “As you prepare, don’t lose sight of the reason you’re out there: to have fun.” Ice hockey also lured him during his time in the Roaring Fork Valley where he skated out for one team and was goalie for another. In addition, the Colorado Avalanche has now lost a huge fan. Ryan found his paradise in the hills above Silt, where he and wife Molly have grown their homestead. Chickens, goats, pigs and ducks abound. Those passions provided his family with goat’s milk, eggs, meat and vegetables. The homestead became a joyous place of playing pond hockey, star gazing from the bottom of a raft, and cooking around a campfire where family and friends could gather. Ryan is survived by his wife Molly (Ballensky), and his children Delphi Ann, (4), and Daedalus Phike, (1), mother and father, Patrice (Eagen) and Philip Moyer of Mechanicsburg, PA, sisters Alicia (Greg) Salerno of Madison, NJ, Cristin (John) Dicker, and Kathleen (Joshua) Steinour both of Mechanicsburg, PA, maternal grandmother, Joan Eagen of Elmira, NY, paternal grandmother, Patricia Moyer of Front Royal, VA as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Rio. “The best dog in the universe.” Those wishing may remember Ryan with a donation to the Delphi & Daedalus Fund through GoFundMe. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in Ryan’s honor on Saturday 12/07/2019 from the banks of the Crystal River near the Redstone Campground at 11am. followed by a gathering at the Moyer Homestead at approximately 1:30pm. All are welcome to attend either event.
