Seven days of cycling events in Carbondale

Bonedale Bike Week includes daily events celebrating two-wheel travel in 2016.

Carbondale will host events, group rides and parties to celebrate bicycling starting Friday, for the 11th Annual Bonedale Bike Week.

Volunteers with Bonedale Bike Week and partner organizations will host bike-related events for all ages and all experience levels.

The organization wishes to strengthen the community of cyclists, and promote car-less transportation in Carbondale and beyond.

Friday, May 17, 7 – 9 p.m. Bonedale Bike Week kick-off party at Batch in downtown Carbondale.

Saturday, May 18, 9 a.m. North Face Bonedale Bike Jam. A free-ride contest at Carbondale’s North Face Bike Park. Cost is $10, but children on striders ride for free. Register online http://www.carbondalerec.com

Sunday, May 19, 3 p.m. Bike polo at Hendrick Park. Bring a mountain bike, wear a helmet, closed toed shoes, gloves. Loaner mallets will be available, and all ages encouraged.

Monday, May 20 – Friday, May 24, 7 – 9 a.m. Free coffee, tea, hot chocolate and breakfast snacks for cyclists on the corner of Fourth and Main in downtown Carbondale.

Monday, May 20, 4 – 6:30 p.m. Kids Bicycle Safety Rodeo at the Recreation Center. Bring a bike helmet to give our bike obstacle course a try. This event teaches kids basic bike safety. Parents are required to sign a participation waiver. Prizes will be awarded and bike mechanics from Aloha Mountain Cyclery will be on hand to show you how to keep your ride in tip-top shape. 567 Colorado Ave.

Tuesday, May 21, 8 p.m. Bike-in movie, “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial,” at the newly remodeled Beat, 968 Main St.

Wednesday, May 22, 7 – 9 p.m. Spoke’n Word Adult Limerick Poetry Slam at Carbondale Beer Works in downtown Carbondale.

Thursday, May 23, 5 – 8 p.m. Digital Scavenger Hunt at Aloha Mountain Cyclery, 580 Highway 133. A photo scavenger hunt around town for teams of two to six people; all ages encouraged. Helmets required, costumes strongly recommended.

A Finale Raffle and Party with music, beer from Roaring Fork Brewing Company, and pizza from Peppinos is to follow.
