Conventional wisdom dictates that if you don’t like the weather in Colorado, just wait five minutes and it will change. Vail’s Dr. Jon Kedrowski will address the state’s winter weather and climate, albeit in a much more scientific manner, on Wednesday, Feb. 20, in the third installment of the Colorado Snowsports Museum’s Through the Lens presentation series.
Tickets for Kedrowski’s presentation are priced at $15 for Museum members and $20 for non-members. Tickets may be purchased by visiting the Museum’s website at http://www.snowsportsmuseum.org or by calling 970-476-1876. Seating is limited and advanced tickets are required. Beer, wine and appetizers will be served, with reserved seating for members.
A geographer, author, ski mountaineer and Colorado native, Kedrowski has been skiing since he was two years old. He climbed his first 14er at the age of eight, finishing off all of the state’s 14,000-foot peaks before turning 18. In the spring of 2016, he completed a challenging journey, skiing all of the 14ers in a single season, from January to June.
A veteran of over 20 international expeditions, Kedrowski’s recent projects have been climbing the Seven Summits, summiting Mt. Everest in 2012. His conquest of Everest in 2012, 2015 and recently in 2018 without oxygen, have been the subjects of documentaries on Dateline NBC, CNN, the Discovery Channel and the Smithsonian.
He has written a trio of books, including his inaugural offering, “Sleeping on the Summits: Colorado 14ers High Bivys” in 2012. He is often contracted by major companies to speak on motivation, goal setting, leadership, risk management and unlocking the human potential.
Through the Lens features presentations by notable scientists, athletes and historians as they share stories and experiences that have helped shape Colorado’s rich ski heritage. The presentations are hosted at the Museum from 5:30 to 7 pm, with beer, wine and appetizers served.
