This spring and summer, Minturn, the small town with big character, is making it a point to invite Rocky Mountain visitors to #Makeit2Minturn. Celebrating 115 years of Colorado community, the town unveils new river access points for fishing, pop-up art exhibits, a facelift for historic Main Street, as well as a stellar lineup of outdoor concerts, markets, and drive-in movies. Nestled between the glamour of Vail and Beaver Creek, Minturn maintains a western spirit that offers an authentic escape and ample reasons to make it to Minturn. Here’s the events they have planned
Happy Birthday Minturn
The town is celebrating its 115th anniversary. Settled over half a century before the resort communities that surround it, the Town of Minturn was incorporated in 1904, making it one of Eagle County’s oldest towns. Throughout the end of the 19th and into the 20th century, Minturn served as an essential crossroads for the Rocky Mountain railroad system, with the Rio Grande railroad running through town. Minturn served a central role as a launch point for World War II troops sent to Colorado to train—Camp Hale and the 10th Mountain Hut trail system are located just outside of town. Today, Minturn neighbors two world-class ski resorts, offering the small town compliment to Vail and Beaver Creek’s luxury. Enhanced River Access for Anglers
The Town of Minturn received a federal grant to improve angler access to the Eagle River, which flows through town. The River Access Trails Project provides five new and safe access points for fishing and outdoor enthusiasts along a mile and a half of the Eagle River. Access points include ADA ramps and platforms. The designated areas offer enhanced river access, additional angling opportunities and more recreation options for visitors and families of all ages. Minturn has long been sought out as a destination for fishing, and with the addition of in town and walkable river access points, a day trip can become a weekend getaway.
First Fridays

If it’s the first Friday of the month, find your way to Minturn. In collaboration with the Vail Valley Art Guild the town will be home to pop-up art galleries on the first Friday of every month. The shows will feature local artists from the valley and around Colorado. Each month the gallery will set up in a new Minturn location and feature new artists providing an ongoing reason to find your way to Minturn for First Fridays this summer.
Main Street repaving and sidewalk project (beginning in April)
The Town of Minturn is open for business during 2019’s Main Street facelift. Main Street is lined with shops, businesses and restaurants all walk- or bike-able and one-of-a-kind to Minturn. Throughout the summer months, CDOT will be giving Main Street Minturn a facelift—repaving and expanding sidewalk access. Part of the historic mining town’s charm is its one-road-in-one-road-out accessibility, and during this summer’s construction, visitors will still enjoy continuing access to all of the area’s beloved businesses. The Minturn Market (Saturdays, June – September)
The market is celebrating its 21st season in 2019—a long standing tradition in town not to be missed. Each week features live music, a food court, and a variety of vendors ranging from gourmet foods, gifts, clothing, jewelry, handmade crafts, home goods, fine art and even a goat petting zoo for kids.
Summer Concert Series (Thursdays, July – August): Summers in Colorado are for outdoor concerts, and each summer, in partnership with the Minturn Community Fund, Minturn brings world-class acts to Little Beach Park and Amphitheater. Music lovers bring a picnic, or take out from their favorite restaurant and head to the park every week for the ongoing Summer Concert Series.
