After 20 years performing together, it’s not surprising to that a certain musical understanding and connection develops between members of a group and no one benefits more than the audience. Indeed, over the two decades Trio con Brio Copenhagen, a piano trio based in Denmark, has performed together, it has become “easier to communicate the message of the music with deep conviction,” said pianist Jens Elvekjaer in a recent interview with Texas Public Radio.

Highly considered one of the finest piano trios in the world, the Trio con Brio Copenhagen is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2019. Formed by two Korean-born sisters, Soo-Kyung Hong on cello and Soo-Jin Hong on violin, along with Danish pianist Elvekjaer, the Trio quickly drew notice for their fresh and exhilarating take on the core classical repertoire.
For their upcoming performance at the Vilar Performing Arts Center, Trio con Brio Copenhagen will perform a program titled “Ghost Stories.” The Trio will inspire and enthrall audiences as they perform Bent Sorensen’s “Phantasmagoria,” Beethoven op. 70/1 “Ghost” and “Trio in e-minor” from Shostakovich. It will be equally a musical and visual story-telling experience.
Trio con Brio Copenhagen has won many of the major piano competitions internationally, including the ARD International Music Competition in Munich, the Vittorio Gui Competition in Florence, the Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition in Norway and Denmark’s prestigious P2 Artists Award. The Trio has performed at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York City, The Louvre in Paris and at other famed concert halls around the globe.
