Registration is open for the Vail Recreation District High Country Hoops after-school basketball program, open to girls and boys in first through fifth grade.
High Country Hoops takes place on Tuesdays from Feb. 19 to April 2 for first- and second-graders, and on Thursdays from Feb. 14 to March 21 for third-, fourth- and fifth-graders.
The first half of each session will focus on skill building, and the second half will be spent implementing those skills in a game setting. This program is for kids to learn about basketball fundamentals and what it means to be a good teammate.
Tuesday sessions take place from 4 to 5:15 p.m. and Thursday sessions take place from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at Homestake Peak School in Eagle-Vail.
Cost is $75 per participant, however volunteer coaches are needed and coaches’ kids play for free. Visit http://www.vailrec.com/register to sign up. Registration closes Feb. 8.
