Crown Mountain board has no right to override voters
The Crown Mountain board has disregard the voters who overwhelming voted down the indoor facility. I question their right to override the voters and waste $25,000 taxpayer money on a feasibility study and conceptual drawings. A few people know what is best for the large number of voters who will have to pay the bills?
In reply to Ms. Kenyon: Senior services are available at the Eagle County Courthouse in El Jebel three days a week. Usually there are from 30 to 50 in attendance at the meals and less at other activities. Is senior day care needed? Increasing activities to five days a week would be less expensive than a large facility that would be costly to build and maintain.

Ignorance of the law is not a defense
The column in Monday’s Post Independent, “Incompetence is not an impeachable offense” by Marc Thiessen, takes the stance that Trump is too incompetent to have knowingly committed the impeachable offense of withholding aid from a foreign government so that they will try to dig up dirt on his political opponent. Lindsey Graham stated the same defense of Trump last week. By that logic anyone who commits a crime but can be shown to not have realized it was a crime should be found innocent. Ignorance of the law is not a defense in a the criminal justice system. This ignorance or incompetence should be particularly inexcusable of our leader who has at his disposal more advice and assistance than any other American.
It is clear that Trump is trying to prevent anyone, with first hand knowledge of his efforts, from testifying. Clearly he now knows he committed a crime and is trying to cover his tracks.
Republicans seem determined to stand by him no matter what he does. It may well be that Trump does not get impeached because Republicans control the Senate. Fortunately, Trump’s base is a minority of Americans. It is time for the majority of Americans to stand up and let the world know we are so much better than what Trump represents. It is not acceptable to continue to let a vocal minority take this country in a direction that is so counter to what the majority wants. So speak up, write to your representatives and vote.
