It’s safe to say most country musicians have an ultimate Brooks & Dunn hit they wish was theirs. To celebrate Friday’s (June 28) world premiere of summer’s ultimate super jam, CMT Crossroads: Brooks & Dunn and Friends, CMT.com asked the concert’s Brett Young, Cody Johnson, Jon Pardi, LANCO, Luke Combs and Midland to name their favorite B&D song they wish belonged to them.
CMT Crossroads: Brooks & Dunn and Friends was filmed live on downtown Nashville’s Lower Broadway on the eve of the 2019 CMT Music Awards. Airing Friday (June 28) at 10 p.m. ET, the concert will feature live performances from the duo’s latest collaborations album, REBOOT.

Brett Young: “Red Dirt Road”
“Being from southern California and being one of the only people I know who liked country music, their ‘Red Dirt Road’ was like my Pacific Coast Highway. That ‘Red Dirt Road’ wasn’t about a red dirt road … it was about where they grew up and where things happened. That was the one that made me realize that country music can transcend because it can tell stories, and their story was a red dirt road, but mine was maybe a lifeguard tower or a beach somewhere. I was already a fan, but ‘Red Dirt Road’ made me dig in a little bit more.”

Cody Johnson: “You’ll Always Be Loved By Me”
“It’s so good, and every time I’ve ever heard it on the radio, I thought Ronnie Dunn was probably the best vocalist that’s ever lived. It’s great. His voice is huge on that song.”

Jon Pardi: “Boot Scootin’ Boogie”
“That song would be the first thing you think of when you think of line dancing, ‘90s country. It’s Brooks & Dunn, and it’s ‘Boot Scootin’ Boogie.’ The thing I love about Brooks & Dunn is they came out in the ‘90s, and it’s 2019, and everybody still loves Brooks & Dunn.”

LANCO: “Mama Don’t Get Dressed Up for Nothing”
“You always knew that if you played a Brooks & Dunn song you would get the crowd back jamming,” LANCO’s Brandon Lancaster says.

Luke Combs: “Hard Workin’ Man”
“Hard Workin’ Man album is way up there for me as one of the best ever. One of the first albums I’ve ever gotten my hands was that on cassette tape. But I just loved it, and I listened back, and I was way in on Brooks & Dunn from that point on. So, to me they’re the peak of the mountain, my version of what country music should be is Brooks & Dunn. I was born in 1990. To me, that is the holy grail of it. So, it’s been an awesome experience getting to perform once with them already and do the album together. It’s a dream come true.”
