71-year-old Air Force veteran stops in Summit County during 7-month walk across the country

SILVERTHORNE — William Shuttleworth, a 71-year-old U.S. Air Force veteran, met Tuesday in Silverthorne with Stuart “Boot” Gordon, 95, who served in World War II as a fighter pilot.

Shuttleworth was passing through Summit County as part of his “Vets Don’t Forget Vets” seven-month walk across the United States from Massachusetts to California. He planned to spend Wednesday night in Frisco before heading west.
