Breckenridge seeks applicants for open council seat

With Elisabeth Lawrence leaving Breckenridge Town Council to join the Summit Board of County Commissioners, Breckenridge has a seat to fill.

According to a town news release, Breckenridge is looking for someone who’s motivated and community-minded. The appointment will be decided by serving town council members with the term up for appointment running until the next municipal election in April 2020.

Demonstrated experience in public service and commitment to the community are required, the release states. Also, council typically meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of every month. Additional committee assignments also will be required. To serve, an appointee must be a resident of Breckenridge for at least one year, an elector and a U.S. citizen.

The deadline to apply is 4 p.m. Feb. 7. Mayor Eric Mamula and town council will review letters of interest and select a group of finalists for interviews on March 12. To apply, someone should send a letter via email describing their interest, experience and background to executive administrative assistant Peyton Rogers at peytonr@townofbreckenridge.com.

Hard copy letters may be mailed to: Peyton Rogers, executive administrative assistant; Town of Breckenridge; PO Box 168; Breckenridge, CO 80424.
