Colorado deer struck by motorcycle gives birth before dying

GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) — A deer in Colorado gave birth to a fawn after being struck by a motorcycle.

KCNC-TV reports that the pregnant doe died as a result of the accident on Interstate 70 in Golden.

Police say the motorcyclist suffered minor scrapes and bruises.

Authorities say a second fawn being carried by the doe did not survive.

The Colorado State Patrol, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Colorado Parks and Wildlife Northeast Region shared photographs and video of the newborn fawn on their social media accounts.

State patrol officials say parks and wildlife personnel collected the fawn at the scene of the accident in the city 15 miles (24 kilometers) west of Denver.

Parks officials say they plan to raise the animal with the intention of eventually returning it to the wild.
