The Frisco Nordic Center is offering a number of clinics and events in 2019, perfect for those looking to kick-off their New Year’s fitness goals in style.
Offerings include stake ski clinics, morning races and the 49th Annual Frisco Gold Rush, returning to the Dillon Reservoir later this year.
“Nordic skiing is a phenomenal way to get into and stay in shape, and it can be a lifelong passion,” said Vanessa Agee, Frisco’s director of marketing and communications. “I have done the women’s specific skate clinics for several years now, and they offer a uniquely encouraging environment, along with the technical training that you really need to continue to improve.”
To encourage more participation in Nordic skiing, the center is offering affordable skate ski clinics for every level of skier from beginners to advanced starting in early January. The center is also offering one-day clinics to entice folks who have never strapped into a pair of skis or hit the cross-country trails.
The Nordic center is offering women’s specific skate ski clinics on weekdays, great for developing skills and meeting other women who are interested in skiing together. Sessions are two hours, and cost $120 for season pass holders and $150 for non-pass holders.
The center also has general co-ed beginner and intermediate clinics for skate skiing and classic skiing, offering day clinics on Saturdays and four-day clinics throughout the week. Single day clinics cost $35 for pass holders and $45 for non-pass holders, and skate ski four-day clinics are offered for $120 and $150 respectively.

The facility also offers the Sunday Little Vikings Program, three-day sessions providing fun-filled instruction for kids ages 8-13.
This year the Nordic center also launched the Up & At ‘Em Ski Series, featuring five races on Wednesdays at 7 a.m. through Feb. 20. Additionally, the center is bringing back the Frisco Gold Rush, the state’s longest running Nordic event on Feb. 9.
“Because of skate ski clinics offered for men, women and youth, we are seeing more first time Nordic racers,” said Agee. “The Frisco Nordic Center has really worked hard to welcome longtime skiers and newbies alike with great clinics, interesting races and helpful professional staff.”
