The town of Frisco is set to award more than $150,000 to local non-profits and causes through its annual grant process during the regular town council meeting on Tuesday evening.
On Jan. 22, the town council will be awarding more than $60,000 in cash and $34,000 in in-kind donations to 47 different organizations around the county. Additionally $10,000 will be awared to college scholarships for high school seniors, and $65,000 will go to providing early childhood care at the Summit County Preschool.
“Giving back is vital in any community,” said Mayor Gary Wilkinson. “All of these groups are fundamental to the quality of life for our citizens and we want to see them succeed. The resources we provide to these non-profits is very clearly an investment in the future of the community. Nonprofits make our town a better place to live for us and future generations.”
Each year the town participates with other local governments in a grant request process. Frisco typicaly awards grants based on different project’s benefit to Frisco residents, past council allocations and results from past programs funded by the town. The grant request process for 2020 will take place in August.
