Frisco’s 10 Mile Music Hall to host its first children’s concert Sunday

Frisco’s new music venue is hosting a bilingual children’s concert for the first time with Mister G performing at 10 Mile Music Hall on Jan. 27

“All of us parents know how hard it is to find activities for our kids during the long winters, and there’s only so many movies out there,” co-owner Todd Altschuler said. “If we get a good turnout this weekend, you can expect a lot more family entertainment in the future.”

Mister G is being billed as “the ultimate kids’ rock star,” and he’ll be performing from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Sunday.

Mister G’s concerts — which are in English and Spanish — are best suited for children ages 2-10, according to the venue.

Mister G — or Ben Gundersheimer — was born and raised in Philadelphia. He is a graduate of Amherst College and recipient of the first songwriting scholarship awarded by the Berklee College of Music.

For his thesis to earn a master’s degree in education, Mister G created a curriculum that incorporated songwriting as a learning tool, and he was soon dubbed “Mister G” by his fourth-grade students.

He began writing the songs that would comprise his debut family album while working as a classroom teacher. More than a decade later, he has released 10 albums and received numerous accolades, including a Latin Grammy Award and four Parents’ Choice Gold Awards.

“Children are the most creative and resilient drivers of social change,” Mister G said in a prepared statement. “As an artist, it’s my job to engage families and leverage the power of music to educate, inspire, and empower young people to help solve the most pressing issues of our time.”

Tickets are $15. Get them at 10MileMusic.com or the venue beginning at 3 p.m. Sunday. Kids under 2 are free.
