Hear a taste of New Orleans with Shamarr Allen

Dubbed “The definition of New Orleans,” composer, writer, producer, vocalist and trumpeter Shamarr Allen will perform with his band The Underdawgs on Saturday, June 15, at the Dillon Amphitheater.

Hailing from the lower 9th Ward of New Orleans, Allen has influences in jazz, hip-hop, rock, funk rhythms, blues and country. In addition to performing with his band, Allen has collaborated with many renowned artists around the world such as Willie Nelson, Patti LaBelle, Galactic, Harrick Connick Jr. and Lenny Kravitz.

Joining him as The Underdawgs are Floyd Gray on drums, Herbert Stevens on percussion and vocals, Matt Clark on guitar and vocals, Jason Butler on keyboards and William Terry on bass.
