I-70 to close Wednesday for rockfall work near Idaho Springs

DILLON — Interstate 70 is expected to be closed in both directions from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Dec. 18, near Idaho Springs for rockfall blasting work, according to a news release from the Colorado Department of Transportation.

During the three-hour closure, eastbound traffic will be required to take Exit 234 at Dumont/Downieville, and westbound traffic must take Exit 248 at Beaver Brook/Floyd Hill, according to the release.

After the blasting work is complete, crews will work to install mesh to prevent rocks from coming down on the road in an area were two rockslides closed the interstate in late November.
