Music Scene: Roundup of live music in Summit County, July 12–18

Robert Cray Band will perform for free at the Dillon Amphitheater, W. Lodgepole St., on Friday, July 12, at 7 p.m. Robert Cray has been bridging the lines between blues, soul, and rhythm and blues for the past four decades, with five Grammy wins and over 20 acclaimed albums.

Gaelic Storm grows stronger with each live performance and, after two decades and over 2000 shows, it is a true force to be reckoned with. With their latest release, “Go Climb a Tree,” their music has never sounded more representative of themselves as musicians and as live performers. The band performs at the Riverwalk Center in Breckenridge, 150 W. Adams Ave., on Saturday, July 13. Tickets range from $25-$35 and can be purchased at BreckMusic.org. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 7:30.

Over the past decade, The String Cheese Incident has emerged as one of America’s most significant independent bands. Born in 1993 in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, SCI has since released multiple albums, DVDs and countless live recordings from their relentless tour schedule. Their two-night shows are sold out, but ticket holders should know that the doors at the Dillon Amphiteather, W. Lodgepole St., open at 5 p.m. and the music begins at 6 p.m. on both Tuesday, July 16, and Wednesday, 17. As part as Copper Mountain’s Copper Live series, Mat Kearney will perform for free at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 13 in Center Village. On his fifth album, CRAZYTALK, he mixes his most timeless songwriting to date with a wide, genre-bending set of interests. There are organic instruments, electronic samples, chill house grooves, tropical sounds, and collaborations with DJs like AFSHeeN, filous, and RAC all glued together by an emphasis on ageless hooks and thought-provoking lyrics.

As part as Copper Mountain’s Copper Live series, Riley Green will perform for free at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, in Center Village. Born in Jacksonville, Alabama, Riley Green was raised on the sounds of traditional country, bluegrass and southern gospel music. Rolling Stone Country, Taste of Country, Whiskey Riff, Sounds Like Nashville and iHeartRadio among others have all named Riley an “Artist to Watch,” in addition to being selected as a CMT “Listen Up Artist” and one of MusicRow’s 2019 “Next Big Things.”
