Paul Eliot Weldon

Aug. 4, 1964 – Feb. 5, 2019

Paul Eliot Weldon died unexpectedly in his home in Summit County on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019 at the age of 54. He was born in Bismarck, North Dakota on Aug. 4, 1964 to Corrine and John Kay Weldon. He grew up on the island of Okinawa where he loved to surf, eat seafood and test limits. He graduated from Osterholz High School in Germany and attended the University of Maryland Munich campus, John Brown University in Arkansas and Georgia State University where he graduated with a degree in broadcast journalism. Paul moved to Summit County, Colorado in 1992 and married Kathryn Hauth. His passion for music led him to open the Alligator Lounge in Breckenridge. His proudest accomplishments, Margaret Anne and Lillian Corrine Weldon (Meggy and Lilykins) were born shortly thereafter. After years of hardship and soul searching, Paul returned to Colorado and worked for BGV where he became the top salesperson of 2018.

Throughout his life, he composed music, most recently with the Paul Weldon Band. He was a world traveler who led a colorful and passionate life, making friends wherever he went. His laugh was infectious, his sincerity was genuine and his attitude towards life was inspiring. He was a free-spirited man who danced to the beat of his own drum.

He was predeceased by his parents, and is survived by his two daughters, Meg and Lily Weldon, ex-wife Kathryn Weldon, half-brother John K. Weldon and half-sister Ann Kozak.

A service will be held at Father Dyer Church in Breckenridge at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, followed by a celebration of life at Modis from 1–3 p.m. For those out of town and unable to make it, we will be holding a separate service in April/ May, details to follow.
