Rep. Joe Neguse to host app coding challenge for students

Congressman Joe Neguse will host a congressional app coding challenge for middle and high school students in the 2nd Congressional District, which includes Summit County.

The challenge, which is intended to encourage student participation in computer science and coding, will be open for 12 weeks, according to a news release.

“I am incredibly excited to host a districtwide app challenge to showcase our students’ drive, intelligence and creativity,” Neguse said in the release. “This competition is an excellent way to encourage computer science and STEM skills that are essential for economic innovation and growth in the future.”

Participants can build an app individually or on teams of as many as four participants. The competition will accept computer programs written in any programming language for any platform.

The deadline to register for the challenge is Sept. 10 and app submissions are due Nov. 1.
