Summit County Animal Control and Shelter received a $2,500 grant from the Petco Foundation on Tuesday to support its lifesaving work.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Petco Foundation,” said Animal Control director Lesley Hall in a statement on the grant. “With this financial support we can medically treat many animals and get them ready for their new homes. We also greatly value the support of our local Dillon, CO Petco store. Petco has also been a great help in increasing our cat adoptions.”

The Petco Foundation investment will allow Summit County Animal Control and Shelter to provide necessary medical procedures to pets, which will make them more adoptable. Additionally, it will allow the shelter to expand its lifesaving efforts by covering medical treatments of animals transferred from overburdened shelters around Colorado, Texas, New Mexico and Kansas.
