Summit Interfaith Council to host gathering with the Muslim community following Christchurch attacks

The Summit Colorado Interfaith Council is holding a gathering at the Lord of the Mountains Lutheran Church on Friday afternoon, inviting residents to come and stand in solidarity with the county’s Muslim population following a pair of attacks on mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, last week.

The event is being put on by the interfaith council’s spiritual support committee and will begin at 1:15 p.m. at the church in Dillon. Participants will form a reception line outside of the church as members of the county’s Muslim community arrive to begin their service. Guests will also be invited inside to take part in the sermon at 1:30.

“We hope we can surround our Muslim friends with love and a sense of solidarity, and assure them that here they can find safety and value as they work and worship in this community,” said Diane Luellen, president of the Summit Colorado Interfaith Council.
