The Summit Film Society explores a musical mecca with ‘Echo in the Canyon’

BRECKENRIDGE — Breck Film Fest’s August Summit Film Society screening heads to Los Angeles for the star-studded documentary “Echo in the Canyon.” This film explores the city’s Laurel Canyon, a musical mecca for some of the best-known artists — from The Beach Boys, to The Mama’s and The Papa’s to Tom Petty in his last film interview — as they get their start.

Featuring Jakob Dylan, the film contains him in candid conversations and performances with people like Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, Stephen Stills, Beck, Fiona Apple and more.

Additionally, the Breckenridge Film Festival has announced it will screen “Standing Up and Falling Down” later in September. The film stars Billy Crystal and Ben Schwartz in a poignant, warmhearted comedy about a struggling stand-up comedian. The director and writer will be attending the festival.

The screening of “Echo in the Canyon” begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, at Breckenridge Theater, 121 S. Ridge St. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased online at BreckFilmFest.org.
