Representatives with Xcel Energy are still working to determine the cause of the low pressure in their natural gas lines that spurred controlled power outages across the county last week.
Michelle Aguayo, a spokeswoman with Xcel, said that the company is focused on their internal operating procedures, and have already ruled out any breach or rupture in the system. Xcel has also ruled out any issues with their suppliers.
Regardless, Aguayo said that the steps Xcel took on Friday were successful. She noted that the system has returned to normal operation, and is operating safety and reliably. No further service issues for customers are anticipated.
“We again note that we appreciate our customers’ and communities’ patience and understanding,” said Aguayo. “We know that service outages are an inconvenience at any time, but especially in winter.”
Just nine days before Xcel experienced natural gas pressure issues in Summit County, the company was forced to cut natural gas to about 150 customers in Minnesota due to low pressure in its distribution system there, as reported by the Star Tribune.
