Awsten Knight Has Shared How Waterparks Got Permission To Name-Check Pete Wentz In ‘Turbulent’

You had your own Pete Wentz and Patrick combined”.

Waterparks dropped their brand new single ‘Turbulent’ last week, and in the opening line Awsten name-checks Fall Out Boy‘s Pete Wentz.

But the thing with that, is that he needed to get Pete’s permission to do that.

While Waterparks were in town for Slam Dunk, we caught up with them to find out how Awsten managed to make that happen.

He texted me ‘hey, are you in LA’, and I was like ‘I live here!’.

When asked how Awsten got in touch with Pete, he replied “Well he was like ‘let’s get coffee and hang and stuff’, and I was like ‘okay!’, so we did that – and I show up and it was really tight. We just talked about music and stuff, and he could tell that I was really stoked about the new stuff.”

Awsten continued “He hadn’t heard ‘Turbulent’ when he texted me, so I was like ‘by the way – before I play this one – I say your name in it’, and I explained why and I explained the meaning behind everything, and he was like ‘okay cool!’, and I was like ‘okay, we’re going to play it now’.”

He finished by sharing “It feels good to have the blessing.”

NICE.
