Check Out Twin Atlantic’s Colourful New Video For ‘Novocaine’

“We’ve found that by limiting ourselves we actually use more of our imagination and creativity.” – Sam McTrusty.

Last month Twin Atlantic roared back with a new label, a new album announcement and a brand new single – but if you thought that was it for news from them, you’d be wrong.

Today they’ve dropped the colourful video to accompany their new single ‘Novocaine’, and speaking of the themes and concepts for the video, frontman Sam McTrusty has shared, “The collage approach to Alex’s idea was really appealing to us. It’s the exact same way we have been approaching writing lyrics on this album. A sound or a colour evoke a feeling or a memory and you chase that down a rabbit hole and see what it unravels from your subconscious. To have a director listen to the song and get that was lucky. Working to the limitations of just red, green and blue lighting was another way this ties into the record. We’ve found that by limiting ourselves we actually use more of our imagination and creativity.”

Speaking of the track itself, Sam also shared, “I wanted to force myself to be more honest and open. The song tells the story of the most intimate connection I’ve ever felt with someone else – when I first met my wife. That feeling of obsession taking over every thought and reason was almost like an addiction at the time. It embarasses us in some ways that we fell victim to such a cliched movie script love story, but equally amazes us that it ever happened.”
