Frank Iero On Warped Tour: “To Play It On The 25th Anniversary Is An Honor”

Frank opens up about attending the tour he would later perform at with My Chemical Romance.

Frank Iero has shared his memories of Warped Tour ahead of performing at the 25th anniversary event in Atlantic City this weekend (June 29-30).

Speaking with Asbury Park Press, Frank recalled attending the touring festival as a teenager and the impact it had on him:

“I remember going to see all your favorite bands in one day, blowing out dirty snot for a week afterward because you were in the circle pit, kicking up dust. You’re in a band so you made your own band T-shirts, so you wear it to the Warped Tour in the hopes that someone will see the name on your shirt and say, ‘Oh my God, that’s a great name! You should be on the tour!”

In particular, Frank cites watching the band Humble Beginnings as a real moment of revelation:

“These aren’t all rock stars in that far-off dream. They’re kids who write songs in their basement and they’re here. I can do this and that realization was so important to me. (As was) years later getting on the tour. Playing and hanging out, people taking us under their wing, building a fan base through this punk rock summer camp was huge. To play it on the 25th anniversary is an honor.”

Following his US dates, Frank will return to the UK with his band The Future Violents for a co-headline tour with Laura Jane Grace and The Devouring Mothers.
