Speaking to Rock Sound for the Twenty One Pilots Rock Sound Awards cover feature, Tyler Joseph has opened up for the first time about how he went about building the world of Trench. And it turns out that the world of Trench came before the writing of any of the songs on ‘Trench’.
Tyler shared “To start with it really isn’t any more complex than just writing it all down. I began plotting the stories and building the environment before I’d put pen to paper on any sort of lyrics or any type of structure, and that was the complete opposite of past albums where the story has almost been built from song to song.”
