Today’s the day! All Time Low guitarist Jack Barakat has unveiled his brand new side project Who Hurt You, and released their debut single.
As well as releasing their first single, they’ve also shared that Who Hurt You have found a home as part of Fueled By Ramen – the label representing the likes of Twenty One Pilots, Panic! At The Disco, and of course All Time Low.
Earlier this week Jack posted a short video, where he revealed the circumstances that lead up to forming Who Hurt You, and he spoke candidly about his mental health.
“I’ve always felt that I’ve had to portray myself a certain way online,” Jack shared in his video. “Kind of be this comic relief, and someone who’s always in a positive mental state. It’s just not the truth. And it’s not real. And everyone has their ups and downs, and I’ve never really put mine out there.
“Last year was a really tough year for me. I was going through my first big breakup and handled it all the wrong ways, and I was doing the wrong things. In those moments, I had close friends of mine urge me to see a therapist and turn my life around.”
Out of some of the worst moments of Jack’s life, he started writing music with singer-songwriter Kevin Fisher, who is his collaborative partner on Who Hurt You.
