The New You Me At Six Album Sounds Like ‘Sinners Never Sleep’ And Is “Emo As F*ck”

“The next record is going to be an emo as fuck record. Really angry and sad.” – Josh Franceschi.

You Me At Six headlined 2000 Trees Festival last night in Cheltenham, and before they took to the stage Rock Sound caught up with Josh Franceschi and Max Helyer about the state of new music.

SpeakIing about the genre directionn of new You Me At Six music, Josh shared “I think that You Me At Six, our sound has changed through different records – but at the core of it it’s a rock band that tries to make good rock music. And I think those foundations are our bricks and mortar if you want to call it that…. But in saying that, the new You Me At Six stuff is all over the place. Honestly, we’re like a naughty child.”

Max added “I think with every new album you see from You Me At Six, it’s always different than the last one. So for ‘VI’ was a move alternative-leaning pop record, this one I don’t think is going to be going that way.”

“The last record was a happy record,” Josh interjected. “And the next record is going to be an emo as fuck record. Really angry and sad.”

“There’s comparisons already when we’ve played people stuff is that it’s leaning a bit towards ‘Sinners’” added Max.

In the interest of fairness though, there’s been another comparison – from none other than Murray from The Xcerts who described new You Me At Six music more like “it’s like Drake meets Skrillex“. Who are both famously not all together similar to You Me At Six’ album ‘Sinners Never Sleep’.

Whatever happens, it sounds like new You Me At Six music is on the way!
