Wilco Announces Sky Blue Sky Music Festival in Mexico

Wilco has announced a new festival experience, Sky Blue Sky, to take place January 18th through 22nd, 2020 in Puerto Aventuras, Mexico’s Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya.

In addition to three full concerts from Wilco and a solo set by frontman Jeff Tweedy, will feature performances by Courtney Barnett, Sharon Van Etten, Kamasi Washington, Jeff Tweedy, Dr. Dog, Yo La Tengo, Calexico, The Autumn Defense, Durand Jones & The Indications, the Comet Is Coming and a local band, Archi.

Tickets will be limited to 2300 attendees, with meals and rooms at the Hard Rock Hotel included with ticket purchase. “Daily activities offered include poolside games, cooking demos, yoga classes, and more,” reads a press release for the event. “Additionally, guests can book off-site excursions to explore the local culture and natural beauty of the area – such as visiting the nearby Mayan ruins in Tulum, snorkeling with sea turtles in Akumal, or zip-lining through the jungle.” Ticket packages start at $1599.

The event will also feature an auction from the charity Positive Legacy, with all proceeds from the auction going toward Positive Legacy projects in the region.

Ticket packages for Sky Blue Sky, named after the band’s 2007 album, go on sale May 22nd at the festival’s website. Wilco will also host their sold-out Solid Sound Festival, founded in 2010, from June 28th to 30th in North Adams, Massachusetts.
